About Community Hospital Auxiliary

Community Hospital is a not-for-profit, non sectarian, acute care facility with 458 licensed beds and a medical staff of more than 600 physicians. The first patient was admitted to the hospital on September 11, 1973. The Auxiliary predates the hospital and was active in fund raising prior to our opening. This organization has grown from a small group of women who solicited donations to realize the dream of Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana, to a membership of 250 men and women. The money raised from all current and past events goes for designated purposes that have changed as the hospital has grown and expanded. The Auxiliary Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to children of hospital employees who meet the criteria and are preparing to enter the field of health care. To date the Community Hospital Auxiliary has provided more than $2 million in support! Funds are raised from: Red Garter Shoppe, and fund raisers.
